Yorkshire Magic Mirror ·

Three hours in the Chartwell Dining Room with the Magic Mirror, Yorkshire Magic Memories, singing waiters and an evening full of proper wedding-party moments.

On 22nd August 2026, we headed to Owston Hall near Doncaster for Josh and Ali's wedding, taking both the Magic Mirror and Yorkshire Magic Memories into the Chartwell Dining Room for three hours from 6:30pm until 9:30pm.

It turned into one of those weddings with loads of little details worth remembering: singing waiters, a brilliant photographer we'd met before, a dance floor from Wedding Venue Lighting, a Ferrero Rocher stand, a proper cold buffet and hot fresh donuts being cooked during the evening by Crazy Co.

We also used the visit to create a new 360° VenView tour of Owston Hall, giving us another way to show couples the venue and the spaces we've actually worked in.

Magic and Memories at Owston Hall

This wasn't just a Magic Mirror booking. Josh and Ali also had Yorkshire Magic Memories, bringing the two parts of the experience together for the evening.

The Mirror gave guests the familiar part they could see straight away: grab a prop, get together, take the photograph and leave with an instant print. Memories added another layer to the wedding, giving guests a way to contribute the photographs and moments they were capturing themselves.

That's exactly where the combination starts to make sense. The Magic Mirror captures what happens in front of us; Memories can collect some of what happens everywhere else.

Inside the Chartwell Dining Room

We were set up in the Chartwell Dining Room, with the Magic Mirror, prop table and red ropes becoming part of the room rather than being hidden away from the rest of the wedding.

That matters. Guests don't have to disappear down a corridor or leave the party to use the Mirror. They can see other people getting involved, spot the props and naturally wander over for a go themselves.

As the evening developed, the props were very definitely put to use. Ali got involved herself and we captured plenty of the groups, daft signs, hats and glasses that make the real event photographs much more useful than a perfectly tidy setup shot.

Singing Waiters and a Changing Room

Josh and Ali also had singing waiters at the wedding, adding another live element to the evening.

One of the things we always watch at real weddings is how different entertainment works together. A wedding isn't three hours of guests continuously using a photo booth. Attention moves around the room as food arrives, people catch up, entertainment starts and the dance floor gets busier.

That's why having the Magic Mirror visible within the main celebration works so well: it's there when guests want it without trying to compete with every other part of the wedding.

Hot Fresh Donuts. Enough Said.

We've seen plenty of donut walls at weddings.

This wasn't one.

Crazy Co (@crazyco_uk) were serving hot fresh donuts, with them being cooked right there during the evening.

We can also confirm from direct and extremely important research that they were amazing.

A Proper Evening Buffet

Alongside the donuts was a cold evening buffet with pork pies, cheese and plenty laid out for guests to come back to as the night continued.

It's a small detail, but these are the things that make real wedding posts useful. They show what an evening at a venue actually looked and felt like rather than reducing the whole wedding to a list of suppliers.

Working with Familiar Faces

The photographer for Josh and Ali's wedding was Rhi Scotchbrook Photography (@rhiscotchbrookphotography).

We'd actually met before at the Hospitium wedding fayre the previous year, so this wasn't quite the first introduction. Weddings have a habit of bringing the same Yorkshire suppliers back together in completely different venues.

The Dance Floor

The dance floor was supplied by Wedding Venue Lighting, adding another focal point as the evening moved from photographs and food towards the party.

Having different parts of the evening happening around the same space meant guests could move naturally between the Mirror, food, entertainment and dance floor rather than everything feeling like a separate attraction.

Creating a New Owston Hall 360° Tour

We weren't only photographing the wedding while we were at Owston Hall. We also captured the venue for a new 360° VenView tour.

VenView is particularly useful at venues we've genuinely worked because we know more than what a room looks like when it's empty. We know where we've set up, how guests move around the space and how that room changes once an evening reception is underway.

Why Magic + Memories Works

The interesting part of this booking for us was having Magic and Memories together.

Two different views of the same wedding

  • The Magic Mirror creates the posed, ridiculous and properly printed photographs.
  • Guests can return to the Mirror throughout the booking rather than having one photograph and disappearing.
  • Yorkshire Magic Memories gives guests somewhere to contribute the moments they're already capturing themselves.
  • Those guest photographs can show parts of the wedding that neither the couple nor the Magic Mirror sees.
  • Together they build a much broader collection of what the evening actually felt like.

Josh and Ali's wedding gave us another real event in which to use that combination rather than testing it in isolation.

Planning a Wedding at Owston Hall?

If you're planning your own wedding at Owston Hall, the Chartwell Dining Room gave us a really workable setting for the Magic Mirror while keeping it connected to the rest of the evening.

Final Thoughts

Josh and Ali gave us three hours at Owston Hall that had a bit of everything: the Magic Mirror getting guests into the props, Yorkshire Magic Memories running alongside it, singing waiters, a Wedding Venue Lighting dance floor, familiar faces behind the camera and enough wedding food to make documenting the suppliers particularly enjoyable.

We came away with photographs of the venue, the Mirror, guests and the little details that made the evening theirs. We also captured a new 360° VenView tour of Owston Hall, so this visit will live beyond a single real-wedding post.

And yes, we're mentioning the Crazy Co donuts again. They were that good.
