Our first wedding fayre at Lakeside Ponderosa with Wedding Fayres Yorkshire — and honestly, we smashed it.
Engaged couples, a few walk-ins from the zoo, a great start to the day and plenty of proper Yorkshire conversations.
This was one of those fayres where people wanted straight answers. No fluff, no pressure, no polished sales pitch — just honest advice about what works, what fits, and what couples actually need for their wedding day.
Quick takeaways:
- Great start, steady middle and a quieter finish.
- Couples were genuinely interested in what made our setup different.
- Our first hosted LIVE with Wedding Fayres Yorkshire gave us a proper five minutes of fame.
The Venue – Lakeside Ponderosa
Lakeside Ponderosa has a relaxed, rustic feel, with the lake giving it a clear sense of character.
It may not be the fanciest venue we’ve ever worked at, but that is not always what makes a wedding work. Some venues are about polish. Others are about atmosphere, space and guests having a proper good time.
This feels like the kind of venue where weddings could be genuinely fun, relaxed and full of personality.
The Setup – Main Room Near the Entrance
We were positioned in the main room to the right of the front door, which gave us good visibility as couples came in.
For weddings here, though, the best setup position would be towards the far end of the room. That would give the mirror more breathing space, better flow and room for guests to gather without getting in the way.
Best placement for weddings here
- Far end of the main room
- Plenty of space for groups
- Better flow away from the entrance
- Room for the mirror to become part of the evening
That is the sort of honest advice couples appreciated on the day — not just “yes, we can set up anywhere”, but where it will actually work best.

Yorkshire Couples, Yorkshire Attitude
The best part of the day was the reaction from couples.
They wanted honest answers about availability, pricing, what we offer, and what makes us different. That suits us perfectly.
Our approach has always been straight up and candid. No nonsense. No hard sell. No trying to make something sound more complicated than it is.
Just a well-built Magic Mirror experience, proper hosting, instant prints and a setup that works.
Standing Out From the Other Mirrors
There were other mirror options at the fayre, which actually made the day even better for us.
Couples could compare things properly — and when they did, they understood the difference.
The feedback was clear: people liked the vibe, the way we explained things, and the fact that our setup does not feel like a copy-and-paste wedding booth.
What couples noticed
- The look and feel of the mirror
- Our straight-talking approach
- The hosted experience
- The difference in personality and presentation
Sometimes the best thing you can do is let couples see the difference for themselves.
Our First Hosted LIVE With Wedding Fayres Yorkshire
A standout moment from the day was doing our first hosted LIVE with Wedding Fayres Yorkshire.
Five minutes of fame, a chance to talk about what we do, and a nice reminder that showing up properly at these events matters.
It gave us a chance to explain the mirror, our approach and why we do things a little differently.
For a first visit to Lakeside Ponderosa, that was a brilliant moment.
Supplier Neighbours and Fayre Feel
The suppliers around us were friendly, with Chiffon Rose and Althams Batley nearby on the day.
A good supplier mix always helps, but the real strength of this fayre was the couples themselves. They were engaged, interested and open to proper conversations.
That is exactly what you want from a wedding fayre.
