Everything was late except us. Elizabeth & Nathan's wedding at Impossible York was still in the middle of the wedding breakfast when we arrived, which meant there was no room to set up and our planned start time was getting closer by the minute.
Then the room became available. The team turned it around in 15 minutes, the doors opened around 15 minutes late and the guests absolutely hammered the Magic Mirror from the moment they came through.

Everything Was Late Except Us
Impossible York is one of those venues where the practical side of getting in matters. Vehicle access into the centre is restricted, parking is basically non-existent and the event space is upstairs with no lift.
We'd allowed for all of that. What we couldn't do anything about was the wedding breakfast still being underway when we arrived.
So we waited.
Once the room was ours, experience took over. Fifteen minutes later, the Magic Mirror was set up and ready to go.
Late makes the magic happen — but an experienced team makes late work.
A Custom Design That Actually Belonged at the Wedding
The room became available late. Fifteen minutes later, we were ready.

The black-and-gold celestial styling carried through the wedding and into their custom Magic Mirror artwork.

Elizabeth & Nathan's wedding had a really distinctive visual style: black, gold, geometric details and celestial sun-and-moon artwork.
They had used AI to create the artwork they wanted and sent it across to us. Our job was then to take that artwork and do what we do with any client-supplied design: make it work properly as a physical Magic Mirror print.
That meant the finished print wasn't simply a stock template with two names added. It looked like it belonged with the rest of their wedding — right down to the black-and-gold welcome sign in the room.
Then the Doors Opened
Around 70 guests and a genuinely lovely atmosphere from the moment the doors opened.

There was no gentle warm-up — the room came alive almost immediately.

The doors opened around 15 minutes late and there was absolutely no cautious start.
The guests came straight over.
With around 70 people at the wedding, the atmosphere was really nice from the beginning. What made the first rush even funnier was that Elizabeth & Nathan hadn't actually made it into the room yet. Their guests had already got the Mirror properly moving without them.
The guests hit the Mirror almost as soon as the doors opened.

The props were in use immediately — and repeat visits followed.

Elizabeth & Nathan eventually made it to the Mirror too, along with two of their cousins.

The Mirror Became Part of the Night
Once it started, it stayed busy. People grabbed the props, changed groups, came back again and generally treated the Mirror exactly how we want it to be treated — as part of the party rather than something to cautiously try once.
There were a couple of moments that summed up the mood perfectly. We jokingly told one guest that prints were £5 each. She immediately told the person with her to get his card out.
Later we told another guest she was only allowed to use the Mirror once. She did not look impressed. Fortunately for her, we were joking about that too.
Elizabeth & Nathan eventually made it over themselves, joined by two cousins, by which point their guests had already given the Mirror a very thorough test.
Around 70 guests produced 71 prints across the evening.

Nobody was actually restricted to one visit — despite what we may have told one guest.

A busy two-hour booking and exactly the sort of relaxed crowd the Mirror works brilliantly with.

A Three-Week-Old First
One of the loveliest moments of the evening was also probably the smallest.
A three-week-old baby had their first photograph taken on the Magic Mirror.
We're not going to identify the family, but that is exactly the sort of tiny moment that makes printed photographs matter. Somewhere after this wedding is a physical print from one of that baby's very first weeks.
Temporary Tattoos, Playing Cards and a Burgundy Cake
The burgundy-red cake stood out beautifully against the darker room.

Temporary tattoos, a playing-card guest idea and a honeymoon fund QR code were amongst the personal touches.

There were plenty of little details around the wedding too. Guests could use temporary tattoos, sign a playing card for the couple and contribute to their honeymoon fund through a QR code.
The burgundy-red wedding cake looked brilliant against the darker interior, while the staircase leading towards the ceremony room gave us one of our favourite venue photographs of the night.
Impossible York has loads of those little architectural details. Dark wood, the distinctive circular bar, unusual rooms and that staircase all give the place a completely different feel to a purpose-built function space.
Ado, CAA Entertainment and the Quote of the Night
Ado, the MC, was funny, lively and becoming just a little merry as the evening went on.
CAA Entertainment were on DJ duties, and somewhere in amongst everything else we heard what might have been the quote of the night when one guest described another by saying his nose was so big he could “smell a Sunday dinner on a Wednesday.”
That probably tells you everything you need to know about how relaxed the room had become.
71 Prints — and Another Wedding Enquiry
By the time we finished, we'd produced 71 prints for around 70 guests.
But perhaps the strongest measure of the night wasn't the print count.
A couple approached us while we were working and asked whether they could book us for their own wedding in Northumberland next year.
They hadn't met us at a wedding fayre and they weren't looking at an advert. They'd watched us working, seen the Mirror in the middle of a real wedding and decided they wanted us at theirs.
There aren't many better endorsements than that.
Planning a Wedding at Impossible York?
Our Magic Mirror can be completely customised around your wedding. If you've already created artwork, have a strong theme or simply want something nobody else has had before, we'll build the finished print around you rather than dropping your names onto a standard template.
Final Thoughts
Unless another wedding booking lands before the end of the year, Elizabeth & Nathan's may turn out to have been our final wedding of 2026.
If it was, it was a pretty fitting one to finish on: a wedding running late, a 15-minute room turnaround, guests hitting the Mirror immediately, around 70 people, 71 prints, a three-week-old baby's first photograph and another couple asking about taking us to Northumberland next year.
The weddings may be slowing down for the year, but we're not. From here it's straight into wedding fairs every week through to the end of November, alongside birthday parties, Christmas parties, wedding taster events and everything else already in the diary.
For one potentially final wedding of the season, Impossible York gave us a very good send-off.
Congratulations Elizabeth & Nathan, and thank you for having Yorkshire Magic Mirror as part of it.
