What If Nobody Uses the Photo Booth at My Wedding?

What if we hire a photo booth and nobody uses it?

It’s a completely reasonable worry. We’ve seen every possible start: a queue before we’re ready, a mad rush the second we open, and rooms where nobody comes anywhere near us.

We’re Watching Before We Even Open

While I’m setting up, I’m also reading the room. Who keeps looking over? Who seems intrigued? Who catches my eye?

If I catch somebody looking, they may get pointed at.

“Rule number one: if you look, you have to have the picture.”

Or: “Is this how you use a mirror at home? Just look at it? Hell no. Come up and do something.”

The First Photo Matters

I normally reserve the first shot for the bride and groom. If they’re not bothered, we don’t force some ceremonial first photograph — it can be anybody.

But when the bride gets involved early, everybody else sees that this is part of the wedding. If she’s relaxed and willing to be silly, the room follows.

Sorry groom. You’re important too. Just not quite as important. 😉

Then It Can Go Boom

The Bridge is a great example because guests can be in different spaces. A room can look empty, then people come through, see the Mirror, use it, get the print and suddenly everyone understands what’s happening.

Once the bride has done it, it can become thick and fast very quickly.

That’s why we like to smash it early while the excitement is there.

An Attendant Isn’t There to Guard the Equipment

For somebody who has never met us, the Mirror initially looks like a photo booth or another big touchscreen. The custom screens help them through it, but our team is there to turn that piece of equipment into an experience.

We talk to people. We invite them in. We get the next group ready. We make sure somebody nervous isn’t abandoned in front of a screen wondering what to press.

“But What If My Guests Aren’t Into Photo Booths?”

We hear it. Then we watch those same guests come back two or three times with different groups.

Our job isn’t to force every person at your wedding to use it. It’s to make it very difficult for the room not to notice that something fun is happening.
