The best place for a Magic Mirror isn’t necessarily the biggest empty space.
It’s somewhere guests naturally discover it, where we can talk to them and where the experience can become part of the flow of the wedding.
Near the Bar Is Usually Good
Bars, reception spaces and natural gathering points work well. We don’t need to be in the busiest possible spot; we need to be somewhere guests will notice and can comfortably stop.
Keep Us Away From the DJ
This is the big one.
We don’t want to be right beside the DJ, band or stage. Not because the equipment can’t cope, but because we need to talk to people.
Direction, banter and support are part of the experience. At full party volume, guests can see us saying something but can’t hear the intent. We’ve seen an experience fall flat because that interaction disappeared.

Another Room Can Work
Being in a separate room isn’t automatically the kiss of death.
If that room has a reason for guests to visit — a bar, food, seating or natural movement — word soon gets around. We can also create our own atmosphere around the Mirror.
The dangerous room is one with no purpose that guests don’t even know exists.
Venue staff know every room because they work there. Your guests may be visiting for the first time. Plan for them, not for somebody who already knows the building.
Footfall Is Good. Being in the Way Isn’t.
We like natural passing traffic. We don’t like hallways, fire exits or narrow routes where we’re constantly moving so somebody can get past.
Visible: good. Discoverable: good. Blocking the chuffing corridor: not good.
What About Marquees?
We can make unusual spaces work, including marquees, but white interiors can be challenging photographically because of the background and how light behaves. Possible and optimal are not always the same thing.
We Look at the Room Like a Photograph
At a new venue we’re looking at light, wall colour, where guests are now and where they’ll be later. We’ll put the Mirror in position and look from the camera’s point of view before committing.
Experience means we can often see the right position quickly. VenView takes that further because at many venues we can explore the space before the event and show couples how we envisage it working.
