The Milner in York gave us the perfect setting for Anna & Andrew’s wedding — luxury surroundings, a bright room and guests who were ready to have a proper good time.
Around 100 guests joined the evening celebration in the Minster Room, and from the moment the night started, the Magic Mirror became part of the atmosphere.
This was not total carnage from start to finish, and it did not need to be. It was one of those weddings with a big start, a sunny middle and a brilliant finish.
Great guests, great venue and photos that looked fantastic all evening.
Quick takeaways:
- Wedding reception in the Minster Room at The Milner.
- Bright, light room with loads of space around the mirror.
- Guests and staff both loved getting involved.
- Fast prints, big laughs and a properly pleasant crowd.
The Setting – The Milner York
The Milner is one of those York venues that already feels special before the evening even begins.
The location next to York station is a massive advantage for guests, and the on-site accommodation makes the whole day feel easy for couples and families travelling in.
Inside, the venue has that classic luxury feel — grand spaces, high ceilings, strong room layouts and a real sense of occasion.
For Anna & Andrew’s wedding, the Minster Room gave us exactly what we needed: space, light and a brilliant flow around the setup.
The Setup – Minster Room Near the Bar
We were set up in the Minster Room near the bar, which worked perfectly for this wedding.
Guests naturally moved between drinks, conversations and the Magic Mirror throughout the evening, which meant the mirror stayed visible without getting in the way of the room.
Why this setup worked
- Plenty of space around the mirror
- Easy access from the bar area
- Great visibility across the room
- Room for groups to gather without blocking the flow
The room itself was bright and light, which made a big difference to the photos.
When the venue lighting works with you, the results speak for themselves.
The Minster Room gave us plenty of space and looked fantastic all evening.

A Big Start, a Sunny Middle and a Strong Finish
The evening started with a proper buzz.
Guests were excited to see the mirror, the room felt lively from the beginning and people were happy to jump straight in.
As the sun came out, a lot of guests naturally drifted outside for a while, which gave the evening a slightly calmer middle section.
Then, as the night moved on, everyone came back in and the mirror built up again for a strong finish.
That kind of flow works really well — it gives the evening space to breathe without losing the energy.
The Guests Made the Night
What stood out most about Anna & Andrew’s wedding was how pleasant everyone was.
The guests were genuinely good fun, really relaxed and properly up for getting involved without it feeling forced.
There were some brilliant reactions throughout the evening too.
- One guest was amazed at how quickly the prints came out.
- Another was absolutely buzzing about the setup.
- The staff loved seeing the photos as much as the guests did.
That is exactly what we want.
Not just people using the mirror, but people reacting to it, talking about it and enjoying the whole experience.
Anna & Andrew Finally Got Their Turn
Anna & Andrew were busy enjoying their wedding, so they did not make it onto the mirror until around two hours into the evening.
That actually tells you a lot about the night.
They were busy with guests, enjoying the venue, the weather and everything happening around them.
When they finally came over, they jumped straight in and got involved properly.
Sometimes the couple arriving later makes the moment even better, because by then the mirror is already part of the evening and the guests are fully in the swing of it.
Proper Fun Photos
The photos from this wedding had exactly the right feel.
Fun, bright, relaxed and full of people genuinely laughing.
There were props, group shots, staff reactions and some very committed posing.
And yes — the pegging was next level.
That is all we will say about that.
One of York’s most recognisable wedding venues.
